CLINICAL OBSERVATION OF OSTEOMYELITIS

Abstract
Clinical observation and analysis have been made on 265 patients who. were admitted to the Taegu Dong San Presbyterian Hospital with the diagnosis of osteomyelitis from January 1960 to June 1965.
In 86.3% of the cases staphylococci was the causative organism and of these 96.4% were resistant to penicillin.
The following methodes of the operation had been adopted; curettage or saucerization and primary clossaucerization and vaseline gauze packing, partial resection of bone, Amputation of the limb and saucerization and skin graft.
Twenty-four patients of our series had undergone saucerization and the wound was packed open with vaseline gauze under systemic control of adequate antibiotics.
Follow-up studies were carried out in 16 of the 24 cases operated (average 13 months after operation), among these, 15 of the 16 studied showed arrest of the disease (93.7%).
